Database Application Development with Oracle
Mike Hichwa, VP of Software Development, Server Technologies, Oracle Corporation

The common thread for all application development at Oracle is the Oracle Database. Oracle Database 11g offers a multitude of features, tools, and functionality that support application development and developers. Since users can choose from a wide variety of development technologies today, Oracle cares about all application development communities including Java, .Net, Oracle APEX, SQL Developer and those using other open source scripting languages. This session provides an overview of what's available by introducing the key tools, frameworks, best practices, and performance-enhancing techniques for building database-backed applications.

Securing your APEX Applications with sumnevaSERT
Scott Spendolini, Sumneva

Security in information technology is more critical today than it ever has been.  Breaches are unfortunately all too common.  As an APEX developer, securing your applications falls squarely on your shoulder.  However, often times security becomes an afterthought - if it gets addressed at all.

For this reason, we developed sumnevaSERT.  sumnevaSERT is an APEX application that quickly evaluates your APEX applications for common security vulnerabilities and provides step-by-step instructions on how to mitigate them.  sumnevaSERT is not just an evaluation tool, but its also designed to be used by your developers during your development process, as it has complete integration with the APEX development environment.

When integrated into your organization’s development and QA processes, sumnevaSERT will help ensure that the only people finding potential vulnerabilities are you and your developers.
