How
Smart DBAs Use Enterprise Manager 9i to Closely Watch
the OS Environment
James Hanson
Advanced
Enterprise Manager 9i is now "operating
system aware," which allows DBAs to monitor and track the
OS statistics that directly affect database performance. This
new capability expands the DBA's span of control and helps break
down barriers between database and operating system administration.
This presentation will outline the new OS capabilities on EM
and include a case study at St. Paul Insurance in Baltimore,
Maryland.

Secure
Schemata: What No One Is Telling You
Barry Johnson
Intermediate
This
presentation proposes a radically different approach to the way
data is secured within Oracle. With this approach, administration
privileges are delegated with NO shared passwords, public data
base links with usernames are forbidden, and no one gets insert,
update, or delete privileges. But the payoff is a database with
accountability and a robust model for reliable data—a good
deal all around!
